Even if we are not equal does that mean to say that some are better than others? I think that all depends on how you look at certain aspects of 'being equal'. This being said, you have issues of sexes, races, religions, etc. Just to point out the more serious side of "Are we created equal?".

Even if we are not equal does that mean to say that some are better than others? Yes. Some are better than others. That's the sad truth, and I wish it wasn't so, but it is. You can't deny reality. It's up to you to rise above your limitations and become a great person, so it's not like you're helpless.

However, in what sense are they better and how do we even define better?

I agree with you; I believe that too. However, in what sense are they better and how do we even define better? I suppose one would define someone better to whether or not they contribute to society. You'd say someone who was a lawyer is obviously better than a criminal. Basically, what I mean is the career define someone as better than someone else for most people. You also have to take into account moral stuff. A good person is better to a bad person. So I guess you can define "better" to someone's standing in life, and moral beliefs. It's all individual, though. People consider other people better based on many things... such as race, sex, financial standing, moral beliefs, so on and so forth. Even religion could be used as a way to define whether someone is better than someone else. For me, I define someone better than someone else based on their character. So you could say moral beliefs is the way I define someone better than someone else. I try not to use race, sex, financial status, or religion as ways to compare people because it's ignorant and foolish.
